Sara,

This is a nice list. People forget about #5 a LOT, and that's probably one of the main reasons I won't stick around a blog for more than a few seconds. If I can't figure out right away what a blog is about (and what it's going to do for me), I've got better things to do with my time.

The sites that do best at getting people to stick around are the ones that...

1) Create an awesome resource that focuses on helping the reader (not the blogger).

2) Create a community that gives visitors a sense of belonging (actually respond to people when they e-mail and comment on your blog).
