Given most of our success is tied to continuing to create new and unique content, this makes a lot of sense to me....of course generally speaking I'd have posts loaded and ready to go when I'm on vacation. You can also bring in a guest blogger once or twice for when you are gone.

Re: Out of Office Posts

Consistently posting on blog is important for blog owner and readers.

Re: Out of Office Posts

Hi Sara,

I believe that telling your readers is always a good idea. As it can make your readers aware that you won't be able to post. And also gives them a deadline that when you will be back.

Re: Out of Office Posts

I read your articles it is very informatics and knowledgeable, keep posting. Telling people you'll be away for a while invites hackers and other lowlife to try and take advantage of your absence.

Re: Out of Office Posts

thanks , for me i prefer write some posts and schedule it , but the problem is comments will be not answered for a while

Re: Out of Office Posts

This is a good post and I too agree that it is the best to let your readers know that you would be away for a while.
Wholesale Or Dropship

Re: Out of Office Posts

A few other solutions...

Bring someone else in to hold down the fort while you're away...

or

Pre-write some "evergreen" posts that you can schedule to drop while you're away.

Personally, I'd combine your idea of giving readers a message with one of those.

Re: Out of Office Posts

Hope you had a great break. Even If its a "advance Post". But it would be really nice if we can just write some pros and cons of the tools we are using. For example I am using BlogJet, its a nice tool but have a some problem with getting the text format right.

Re: Out of Office Posts

What I like to do is write articles in advance and then take advantage of the ability to schedule when they get published. It depends though really on the whole content and audience of the blog. I try to post at least once a week of each of my sites - some though occasionally will go longer.

Re: Out of Office Posts

That's a great post Sara. They somehow get hooked on to the delicious content that a blogger gives them on a daily basis and faithfully come very day to check for the latest post. If they go hungry once they are then capable of searching for similar blogs with similar posts. And thats where the loss can hurt. The reader may never come back again and may even forget the url by the time you decide to post again without keeping your status updated.

Good reminder

Re: Out of Office Posts

The idea by orovo is great...In fact, that's what I intend to write in here before I noticed his comment. Simply have your posts pre-written and get someone to post it on your behalf while you're away. I can't think of a better way than this.

Zekimann
---

Re: Out of Office Posts

Great post.
