Looking at some of the answers that you have received, I believe the direction they have been giving you is more like working for another party from home rather than a home business.

My reasons are entirely different and none of them matches with described in the post. When I started my internet life, I had no other way or solution. Someone said me to do this and I did that. I don't know what am doing with me or with my internet business but its like a passion and life.

Nice list...I think I may re-purpose the list for colleagues who are looking to work at home or to go virtual. You need to think through the second-order consequences, not just the obvious like connectivity.

There certainly are a multitude of reasons why working from home is great, my personal favorite is not having to commute 1 hour to work and 1 hour back each day - Ugh!

I like the fact I save at least $50 bucks a week on fuel for my car and I can pick the kids up from school.

It takes some serious self discipline though, a clear defined schedule is important.

Most people just don't have what it takes to stay home and work. Even the most independent hard working professional seldom can make it work in a home environment . Not only do most people not have mentality it takes to be their own boss, few stay at home workers realize or can accept that for the first couple of months or years you will work from the moment you get up until the moment you go to bed, and you only are allowed an afternoon nap if you are like me blogging away at three in the morning.

I don't suppose you have any advice for ad hoc situations? I'm finding myself in one, taking on a site project to raise money for a very worthy charity ... not because I want to or feel especially capable, but because it needs to happen.

Sorry for the largely off topic digression! A friend of mine found a kitten on Bainbridge Island who'd been drop kicked, and I've agreed to help raise money for an MRI and whatever treatment the cat winds up needing. It's not what I'd choose to be doing, but the cat is suffering, and my friend, who found it, needs help. I've tried this once before, but if you have any advice, I'll be eternally grateful.
